Ohio State head coach Ryan Day received a contract extension this morning, which ironically made both Buckeye and opposing fans happy. Not surprisingly, most of the joy has come from Ann Arbor.

Dave Portnoy, founder and owner of Barstool Sports and a Michigan graduate, has been far from bashful with his hope that Coach Day would receive an extension. He went as far as selling “Extend Ryan Day” hats, t-shirts and sweatshirts on his website for months.
Coach Day deserved this extension. He is an amazing 47-1 against all Big Ten competition that is not named Michigan, but only 1-4 against the Wolverines. But even if the Buckeyes are undefeated next season going into their November 29th game against Michigan, which is in Ann Arbor this year, if they manage to lose yet again, the noise to fire Coach Day will once again get louder.
And yes, that would be absurd, but it is also guaranteed to happen. This is part of what makes college football rivalries amazing.
