Players Who Will Replace Stars: ACC

Luke Brumm drops his list of rising ACC players who will be expected to replace the production of stars from last season.

This article covers players in the ACC who will attempt to fill in the shoes of stars who’ve departed after this season.

Bryan Bresee -> Ruke Orhorhoro – Clemson DL

I know that technically Bryan Bresee is an interior defensive lineman and Ruke Orhorhoro is an edge, but they both play defensive line. Ruke Orhorhoro needs to step up and become the next great defensive lineman for the Tigers. He accumulated 13 solo tackles and four sacks last season, and I expect those numbers to rise in 2023. If Clemson wants to make it back to the CFP, they need to be led by a strong defense.

Myles Murphy -> Tyler Davis – Clemson DL

I’m going with the same team and the same position on this one. Myles Murphy is another one of those great Clemson defensive linemen that are going pro and will need a replacement. That replacement will be Tyler Davis. Davis had 15 solo tackles and five and a half sacks in 2022. He will be the head man on the line next season and will need to see his production and numbers jump if Clemson wants a chance at a national championship.

Devin Leary -> MJ Morris – North Carolina State QB

Devin Leary is off to Kentucky, and MJ Morris is who I believe will take over for him. Morris is a talented kid out of Carrollton, Georgia who got some playing time last season after Leary went out with an injury. He threw for 648 yards and had seven touchdowns compared to just one interception. He went 52 for 86 on passes and added another 88 yards and a touchdown on the ground. He is a player with high potential and a good fit at NC State.

Sean Tucker -> LeQuint Allen – Syracuse RB

Sean Tucker was a huge contributor for the Orange last season, and he declared for the draft and opted out of the bowl game. We got a glimpse of what was to come at running back next season when freshman LeQuint Allen ran for almost 100 yards on 15 carries. Allen ran for 274 yards and a touchdown on 41 carries last season, and those numbers should skyrocket next year. I expect him to get a boatload of the carries and be a solid back for Syracuse in 2023.

Tony Grimes -> Lejond Cavazos – North Carolina CB

Not only did Tony Grimes transfer, but so did Storm Duck. North Carolina is losing arguably their two best corners and will need to replace them with Ohio State transfer, Lejond Cavazos. He transferred to UNC before last season and tallied nine solo tackles in 2022 for the Tar Heels. He is listed as the number one corner on their depth chart right now and has big shoes to fill. North Carolina’s defense was very poor at times, especially in the secondary, and it looks like it’s up to Cavazos to change that.
