In today’s Fact or Fiction – Portal Edition – I look at three more transfer topics and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or FICTION.
1. A transfer will win the Heisman Trophy
More Sports News
Mark’s take: FACT
The second that Dillon Gabriel committed to Oregon I thought that he would win the Heisman and that hasn’t changed. He is perfect for the offense, has plenty of weapons around him and Oregon plays a schedule that will put him on the national spotlight several times. I’m also not the only one who thinks this as he is the current Vegas favorite to win the award. While other transfers are also worth tracking (Will Howard, Cam Ward, Riley Leonard), it will be Gabriel who takes home the trophy.
2. Dequan Finn won’t lead Baylor to a bowl game
Mark’s take: FICTION
Not many casual college football fans watch Toledo in their spare time, so it seems as though Dequan Finn’s talents are being underestimated. While the Bears still have some holes coming off a 3-9 season, Finn is talented enough to bring three more wins to Waco and a resulting bowl game. Finn will also be helped with the addition of offensive coordinator Jake Spavital, whose open offense is perfect for his new quarterback. The Bears will have their ups and downs this season, but overall they will be improved and exciting thanks to Finn.

3. Corey Thornton will prove himself to be Louisville’s top defensive transfer
Mark’s take: FACT
Louisville was already rock solid at one cornerback spot with Quincy Riley, but there was some concern on the other side. Because of that the Cardinals added three players to compete for the position, and while none have disappointed, it is Corey Thornton who has shined brightest. Coming off an impressive season at UCF with three interceptions and nine pass deflections, look for him to continue to flourish as he will give Louisville one of the top cornerback duos in the ACC.
