With EA officially announcing a timeline for the new college football video game, sports enthusiasts worldwide are eagerly awaiting the chance to dive into gameplay for the first time in over a decade. As the release date draws nearer, I’ve decided to predict the top-rated players in each position group. This time we review which tight ends will give you the most fits in the new game.

5. Brant Kuithe – Utah

Following a season-ending ACL injury in 2022, Brant Kuithe spent the entirety of 2023 recovering to make his comeback to the field. Kuithe could easily be near or at the top of this list if not for his injury setback, as he’s as well rounded of a tight end as you can find . With hands as dependable as anyone in the sport, he consistently delivers in clutch 3rd down situations. Additionally, he excels as a route runner which enables him to consistently find separation.

Sep 17, 2022; Salt Lake City, Utah, USA; Utah Utes tight end Brant Kuithe (80) catches a pass and is brought down by San Diego State Aztecs defensive lineman Justus Tavai (91) in the second quarter at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

4. Bryson Nesbit – North Carolina

Bryson Nesbit has showcased really good consistency over the past two years, heading into his fourth year with the Tar Heels. In 2023, he racked up 585 yards and 5 touchdowns, ranking second on the team. At times, Nesbit resembles more of a wide receiver than a traditional tight end, as he can line up in the slot and run routes with the best of them. He possesses good speed for his position and does a really solid job at blocking on the perimeter.

Dec 28, 2022; San Diego, CA, USA; North Carolina Tar Heels tight end Bryson Nesbit (18) runs with the ball while defended by Oregon Ducks defensive back Steve Stephens IV (7) during the second half of the 2022 Holiday Bowl at Petco Park.

3. Colston Loveland – Michigan

Enjoying a breakout year for the Wolverines in his sophomore campaign, Colston Loveland accumulated 649 yards and 4 touchdowns. Playing a huge role in the Wolverines’ championship run, Loveland emerged as a reliable target in the passing game. His route-running ability resembles that of a wide receiver, consistently creating mismatches against linebackers. Additionally, his exceptional body control allows him to win in contested catch situations, making him a well-rounded receiving tight end.

2. Caden Preiskorn – Ole Miss

A dependable target for Jaxson Dart and the Ole Miss Rebels in recent years, Caden Preiskorn is poised for a standout senior season. Despite missing a significant portion of the 2023 season due to injury, Preiskorn still managed to put up solid numbers and contribute significantly to the Rebels’ success. Known for his ability to find openings in coverage, he possesses exceptional route-running skills and is a threat with the ball in his hands.

1. Oronde Gadsden II – Syracuse

Although sidelined for the majority of 2023 with a Lisfranc injury, Oronde Gadsden II undeniably ranks among the nation’s premier tight ends when healthy. In 2022, Gadsden II hauled in 61 receptions for 969 yards and 6 touchdowns, showcasing his elite-level talent. A nightmare matchup for opposing defenses, he combines the skill set of a top-tier wide receiver with the physicality of a tight end. Oronde has reliable hands, crisp route-running ability, and is elusive after-the-catch. Gadsden II is the epitome of a game-changing tight end.

Oct 29, 2022; Syracuse, New York, USA; Syracuse Orange wide receiver Oronde Gadsden II (19) catches a touchdown pass in front of Notre Dame Fighting Irish cornerback Benjamin Morrison (20) in the first quarter at JMA Wireless Dome.
