1. Ja’tavion Sanders, Texas

— Sanders is head and shoulders above the rest in the Big 12 following a 54-catch season for more than 600 yards and five scores. He’s going to be targeted even more this season and could surpass double-digit TD catches.

Sep 24, 2022; Lubbock, Texas, USA; Texas Longhorns tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders is tackled by Texas Tech Red Raiders linebacker Jacob Rodriguez (13) during a game at Jones AT&T Stadium.

2. Ben Sinnott, Kansas State

— 31 catches last season for more than 400 yards set the bar at 40 or more and nearly 600 yards this year.

Dec 31, 2022; New Orleans, LA, USA; Kansas State Wildcats tight end Ben Sinnott (34) reacts after getting first down against the Alabama Crimson Tide during the first half in the 2022 Sugar Bowl at Caesars Superdome.

3. Mason Fairchild, Kansas

— The second-team All-Big 12 performer should surpass 500 yards and push for double-digit scores.

Sep 10, 2022; Morgantown, West Virginia, USA; Kansas Jayhawks tight end Mason Fairchild (89) catches a pass for a touchdown during the second quarter against the West Virginia Mountaineers at Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium.

4. Jared Wiley, TCU

— Wiley is massive at 6-7 and 260 and wasn’t targeted enough in my book last season. He could be a big weapon.

5. Deshawn Hanika, Iowa State

— Hanika doesn’t put up big numbers, but he’s key as a chain mover and blocker in the conservative Cyclones offense.

Nov 26, 2022; Fort Worth, Texas, USA; Iowa State Cyclones tight end DeShawn Hanika (83) makes the 15-yard touchdown catch in front of TCU Horned Frogs safety Namdi Obiazor (4) during the first half at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
