Ray Rice’s days on the football field came to a sudden conclusion in 2014 after an arrest for third-degree aggravated assault on his future wife, which led to his indefinite suspension from the NFL. This came after a storied collegiate career at Rutgers and six seasons with the Baltimore Ravens. After being away from the game for most of the last decade, it was announced this week that he is returning to the field as a coach:

With Rutgers, Rice was dominant. In only three seasons, he rushed for 4,926 yards and 49 touchdowns, which included a First-Team All-American season in 2007 when he finished with 2,012 yards and 24 touchdowns on the ground.

While he is starting on the ground floor as a JV head coach for Milford Mill High School in Maryland, it is a sign that Rice once again wants to get involved in the game. Only time will tell if this is the beginning of a long coaching career or just a short pitstop during his life, but with several ex-players recently getting back into the game as coaches (Michael Vick, DeSean Jackson, Sammie Coates) Rice is another name to keep an eye on.
