Grubb had been on DeBoer’s staff since 2007 when he became offensive line coach and running game
coordinator. He followed DeBoer to Eastern Michigan and Fresno State, where he eventually became
offensive coordinator in 2019. They both moved on to the Washington Huskies where they would lead
them to the national championship game in the second year.

Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer watches during a college football game between the University of Oklahoma Sooners (OU) and the Alabama Crimson Tide at Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman, Okla., Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024. Oklahoma won 24-3.

Grubb left Washington for the NFL and the Seattle Seahawks after he was not hired to replace DeBoer
when he left for Alabama. The Seahawks had a 10-win season, but missed out on the playoffs. He was
let go following the season.

Grubb replaces Nick Sheridan as offensive coordinator in Tuscaloosa, though Sheridan is expected to
stay on the staff. The Crimson Tide posted a 9-4 record in 2024 and finished the season with a 19-13
bowl loss to Michigan. Grubb will look to lead Alabama back to the college football playoff after falling
just short in 2024.
