In the current chaos of the NIL world, money is king. And because of this it is leveling the playing field for some programs that previously had problems competing on a consistent basis. One of these programs is Texas Tech, but with the help of a mega-wealthy donor, the Red Raiders are quickly becoming relevant. And with yesterday’s news, they will likely become even more relevant very quickly:

Cody Campbell and John Sellers sold Double Eagle today for about $4.1 billion. Texas Tech should have all-galaxy talent on the field in the coming years. Congrats to two mega-sized Red Raiders.

Cody Campbell is especially important to Texas Tech. He played football in Lubbock, graduated from the University and then eventually became extremely wealthy after starting Double Eagle, an independent oil and natural gas company. He also founded The Matador Club, which is the Red Raiders’ NIL collective

$4.1 billion is a staggering amount of money, which should make everyone associated with Texas Tech extremely happy. The Red Raiders have already been aggressive recently when it comes to recruiting but look for that to ramp up even more in the coming years.

With Campbell’s help, the Red Raiders brought in one of the top transfer classes in the country during the winter, which included key additions like DL Lee Hunter (UCF), OL Howard Sampson (North Carolina), OL Hunter Zambrano (Illinois State), DE Romello Height (Georgia Tech) and CB Brice Pollock (Mississippi State).

How far is Campbell willing to go in order to help Texas Tech? Everyone will soon find out.
