The best thing for college football? Deion Sanders. But some think he’s the worst thing as well. Here’s your dose of Daily Deion.

Disclaimer: I have always been a fan of Deion Sanders. Loved him as a player at FSU, in Atlanta and Dallas and even respected him as a 49er against my Cowboys.

Do people hate Deion or do they hate the media coverage and circus that surrounds him? I think it’s the latter.

I came out with my most hated college coaches list last week….

1. Deion Sanders, Colorado

2. Nick Saban, Alabama

3. Lincoln Riley, USC

4. Jim Harbaugh, Michigan

5. Dabo Swinney, Clemson

and many responded that Deion isn’t hated it’s just the overzealous coverage of him makes you hate everything Deion. And that got me thinking. I know for sure I don’t hate Coach Prime (see my disclaimer) and I’ve always been a fan. But as the media swarm truly began after the win over TCU and just became worse and worse heading into Oregon, I just wanted it to stop. I wanted Oregon to crush them to slow it all down. And I was rooting against Deion, someone I actually like.

Deion is brash. He’s boastful. He’s loud and he’s brazen. He’s also successful and legendary. His hypocritical ways can sometimes infuriate like driving 70 players off the 1-11 Buffs team without care or worry while complaining about the mental health issue the NCAA imposed on a player who denied transfer into his program. That kind of stuff drives me insane. Putting a true freshman (Cormani McClain) on blast to the media, something no other coach would ever do, but never receiving backlash for it because he’s Deion can be frustrating. But that’s Deion, always has been and always will be. So is this the chicken (Deion being outspoken and boastful) or the egg (the media blowing up everything he goes) causing Deion's negative perception? I’m not so sure.
