The Daily Deion: Is This the Worst Colorado Team We’ll See?

Deion Sanders’ comments after CU’s loss to Oregon have some wondering if this is just the worst iteration of his teams that we’ll see

The best thing for college football? Deion Sanders. But some think he’s the worst thing as well. Here’s your dose of Daily Deion.

Disclaimer: I have always been a fan of Deion Sanders. Loved him as a player at FSU, in Atlanta and Dallas, and even respected him as a 49er against my Cowboys.

So, what’s today’s Deion topic? How about these comments after the 42-6 loss to Oregon?

“One thing I can say honestly and candidly: You better get me right now. This is the worst we’re gonna be. You better get me right now.”

— Deion Sanders after Colorado lost 42-6 at Oregon

Nah. Colorado will be better next season as they address the offensive and defensive line play in recruiting and the portal, but we are going to see worse than we saw against Oregon.

When? This weekend when USC potentially puts 60 on the Buffs. USC’s defense is suspect, and they didn’t look sharp against Arizona State, but let’s remember, this game is about recruiting as well. Deion and the Buffs are involved with some of the top recruits in the country for 2024, 2025, and 2026 and are involved with USC in some battles. Lincoln Riley needs this win to continue his intended march to the playoff, and he needs this win for recruiting to send a message that USC is established and CU is far away from being good.

And let’s not forget the portal, where USC has been effective, but Colorado has been obviously very aggressive. Riley needs a statement win here. Caleb Williams needs to stats to continue to try to repeat as the Heisman winner, and I don’t see USC taking their foot off the gas. Sorry, Deion, this wasn’t rock bottom. It’s coming this weekend and could also happen down the line with perhaps an upset to Arizona State or another drubbing by Washington State or Utah. We aren’t at rock bottom yet, Prime.
