The best thing for college football? Deion Sanders. But some think he’s the worst thing as well. Here’s your dose of Daily Deion.

Disclaimer: I have always been a fan of Deion Sanders. Loved him as a player at FSU, in Atlanta and Dallas and even respected him as a 49er against my Cowboys.

Jason Whitlock is just bad for sports. Why do I say this? Recently Whitlock attacked Deion Sanders, again, on his podcast saying he needs to take more responsibility for his coaching downfalls and that asking for his players to mimic his “love” of football is immature.

This was following the blown 29-0 lead over a bad Stanford team. To an extent, Whitlock is 100 percent right. Deion didn’t take enough blame upon himself and cajoling his players into “loving” football like he does won’t work. So why is Whitlock bad? Because we know why he’s doing and saying this and it doesn’t have a damned thing to do with football.

Whitlock knows nothing about football. He was a nothing at Ball State 100 years ago and claims he was an elite high school player. He wasn’t. But he knows about race diversion and he uses it to sell clicks. His theory, and it’s correct as he has gained fame, is that to be the African American who is anti-African American gets you attention. And it works. It pisses people off to the extent he’s famous. And an easy target is Deion Sanders who he went after following his departure from HBCU to the Power Five. And he continues to attack him. Why? For clicks.

People think I have it in for Deion because I’m critical of his roster management and handling of his team. They’re wrong. I’m just providing an opinion on a football coach. Whitlock is attacking the man because he knows it will be controversial. And he’s playing the race card and it’s disgusting.

The Best Way to End the Scheduling Debate

I don’t believe in everything Prime does and I’m not sure he’s a good coach at the Power Five level. But I know he brought more awareness to HBCU schools than anyone in history and I know he wants his players to want to win as badly as he always has. Could he point the finger at himself more? Yep. But my criticisms of Deion have nothing to do with race, religion, etc contrary to the belief of some. It’s about football. Whitlock attacks Deion for race and throws in some religion for good measure. And he’ll continue to do so to pay his bills. He’s a sellout and a blowhard and honestly it makes true criticism of Deion Sanders fall to the side. Because when Whitlock attacks Coach Prime to move the needle using race, everyone else gets lumped in. And some of us just give a crap about football.

Deion used to like me, for real. We exchanged pleasantries yearly at the Under Armour Game and had a few nice DM exchanges. He used to follow me on X and all that. Now he doesn’t like me and has blocked me on social media. It’s a bit soft and all but I’m okay with it because I know my criticisms are valid and have the true intention of football talk. Whitlock wouldn’t know what that’s like and never has. Everything he tweets and writes about is racially motivated and he happens to lump sports in sometimes. Hell, even Clay Travis apparently couldn’t stand the guy and that’s saying something.

So Coach Prime keep doing your thing and I’ll praise you and criticize you as it’s merited. In the meantime let’s all remember what Jason Whitlock is. Bad for sports.
