The Daily Deion: Seeing Deion vs. Urban Meyer Would be Amazing

The best thing for college football? Deion Sanders. But some think he’s the worst thing as well. Here’s your dose of Daily Deion.

Disclaimer: I have always been a fan of Deion Sanders. Loved him as a player at FSU, in Atlanta and Dallas and even respected him as a 49er against my Cowboys.

I was hoping it would be true. That Urban Meyer would indeed be a candidate and have interest in the head coaching job at Michigan State. But how does this impact Deion? It doesn’t really as the Spartans aren’t in his future conference and they would likely never play against each other. But to me, it would be amazing simply because Urban Meyer is the only coach in college football who could come close to garnering the attention that Coach Prime has. And to have both of them in charge of Power Four programs would be amazing.

Think about it. Deion says one thing one day, Urban says something the next, and here and there comments made by one or the other are interpreted as a slam of the other. Think Deion vs. Matt Rhule, Pat Narduzzi, Dan Lanning, or anyone else but on absolute steroids. It would be epic to see.

And it could still happen as I don’t think Meyer is done coaching at the college level. But if he does return it will be at a program where he can win quickly and win big so we will have to wait until Lincoln Riley bolts for the NFL or perhaps even if Billy Napier gets fired. But this needs to happen.

Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer watches his team during a punt return against Northwestern Wildcats during the 2nd quarter in the Big Ten Championship game in Indianapolis, Ind on December 1, 2018.
