The State of Texas has always been fertile ground for recruiting elite high school football talent. At least 20 Texas-born college quarterbacks reside on 2024 spring depth charts nationwide, with six dotting rosters as incumbents or potentially first-year starting QBs in the mighty SEC.

Jalen Milroe, Alabama Crimson Tide
2023 Recap: 3,415 total yards, 35 total TDs, 6 INTs, 65.8% comp. pct.

Jalen Milroe did not play in the USF game in week 3, but then led the Crimson Tide on a 10-game winning streak before losing to Michigan in the CFP semifinal game. Against LSU, Milroe passed for 219 yards and rushed for 155 yards, and four TDs on the ground in a 42-28 win over the Tigers.

Weigman has a new head coach in Mike Elko, a new offensive coordinator in Collin Klein, and a ton of weapons at the skill positions.

Quinn Ewers, Texas Longhorns
2023 Recap: 3,479 yards, 22 TDs, 6 INTs, 69% comp. pct, 5 rush TDs

Quinn Ewers leads the Longhorns into the SEC this fall, and they return 70% of their production from a season ago, the second most in the conference behind only Texas A&M.

Behind an experienced offensive line, Ewers will have new wide receivers to throw to in Silas Bolden (from Oregon State) and Matthew Golden (from Houston), along with returning experience at the running back position in CJ Baxter.

In two seasons at Boise State, Taylen Green recorded 3,794 yards, 25 TDs, and 15 INTs. Now, Green moves on to Arkansas to earn the QB1 job after KJ Jefferson transferred out to UCF. And, he will learn a new playbook under new OC and former Razorbacks head coach Bobby Petrino.

Jackson Arnold, Oklahoma Sooners

Jackson Arnold saw action in four games as a true freshman in 2023. In his first collegiate action vs Arkansas State, Arnold completed 100% of his passes (11 of 11) for 114 yards and a touchdown in a 73-0 beat down.

In the bowl game vs Arizona, Arnold threw for 361 yards, two touchdowns, and three INTs. Arnold leads the Sooners into the SEC and will take over for the departed Dillon Gabriel, who transferred to Oregon.
