In what many consider a weak quarterback draft class, five of the top eight teams are in desperate need of a quarterback. Tennessee, Cleveland, New York Giants, Las Vegas and the New York Jets will all be looking for a franchise play caller early in the draft. Seattle and Pittsburgh draft later and are also looking for a QB.

Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart is coming off a strong 2024 season. He went 276-of-398 (69 percent), 4,279 yards, 29 TDs and six interceptions. As a three-year starter, he led the Rebels to a 28-10 record and three bowl appearances. As a dual-threat quarterback, Dart added 1,500 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground for Ole Miss.

Miami’s Cam Ward was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year and won the Davey O’Brien Award as the best quarterback in the country. He finished the season 305-of-454 (67 percent), 4,313 yds, 39 TDs and seven interceptions. Ward is a strong-arm, accurate passer with premier playmaking ability.

Shedeur Sanders began his career at Jackson State. When his father, Deion Sanders, accepted a head coaching job, Shedeur followed and transferred to Colorado in 2023. Coach Prime and Shedeur changed the fortunes of the Buffalos in two years. They went from 4-8 in 2023 to 9-4 in 2024 and an Alamo Bowl berth.

Texas’ Quinn Ewers and Syracuse’s Kyle McCord round out the top five and are hoping to hear their names called on day one of the draft.

There are many NFL teams looking for a quarterback to change their fortunes. The problem is that there are not enough quality quarterbacks in this draft. If the player a team thinks is right for them is not available, we may see them trade back and wait to see what the 2026 draft has to offer.
