July is usually the month that a few college players make the news for the wrong reasons. Most are home before summer camps begin and with that, some make bad decisions. However, over the weekend it was a coach who was making the bad decisions.
According to police reports obtained by News 9 in Oklahoma, Tulsa co-offensive coordinator Ty Darlington was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of driving under the influence. The reports say that Darlington was speeding when he narrowly missed hitting a police car that was responding to a previous accident.

Darlington was taken into custody after officers from Jenks, a suburb of Tulsa, noticed a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and slurred speech. He faces charges of reckless driving and aggravated DUI after being taken into custody.
If his name sounds familiar, Darlington was the starting center for the Oklahoma Sooners for 26 games between 2012 and 2015. After a short NFL career he began his coaching career back with the Sooners in 2016. After coaching stops at Florida and Incarnate Word he was hired by Tulsa in December.
With the Sooners in 2015 he was the winner of both the Campbell Trophy and Wuerffel Trophy. The Campbell Trophy is considered the student-athlete equivalent of the Heisman Trophy, while the Wuerffel Trophy is an award given to the player who combines community service with athletics and academics.
