Tuesday nights are important in the college football world. It is when the newest playoff rankings are unveiled and with it the future of many programs. Analysts around the country use this as an opportunity to share their opinions, but one decided to waste this opportunity by saying the dumbest thing ever.
Joey Galloway, who has worked for ESPN since 2012, decided on this take when discussing Indiana’s #5 ranking:

“If I’m Indiana, I don’t know if I’m playing Rourke against Ohio State. What could keep Indiana out of this? Getting their quarterback hurt.”
Luckily, Joey Galloway isn’t Indiana because that is one of the most insane and cowardice opinions I’ve ever heard. Galloway wants the Hoosiers to throw up the white flag before their biggest game ever. He wants Indiana to not even try to win the game. How is that an opinion that is paid for?
Aside from the obvious absurdity of the opinion, benching Kurtis Rourke would very likely backfire for the Hoosiers. If they lose at Ohio State by 30, with or without Rourke, there will be plenty of people crying for the Hoosiers to be left out of the playoffs because of their weak schedule. The last thing Indiana needs is to give these people more ammunition.

But there is no reason to spend any time trying to make sense of Galloway’s comment, because I don’t think he even believes it himself. At least I hope he doesn’t.
