Shedeur Sanders began his collegiate career at Jackson State and led the Tigers to a 23-3 record in his two years there. He transferred to Colorado in 2023, when his father, Deion Sanders, accepted the Buffaloes’ head coach job. With Sanders under center, the Buffalos went from 4-8 to 9-4 in 2024. Last season he went 353-of-477 (74 percent), 4,134 yards passing, with 37 touchdowns and only 10 interceptions. He finished eighth in the Heisman Trophy voting.

The NFL Draft is right around the corner and many “experts” are putting out their mock drafts. You can find Sanders being drafted anywhere from the first player off the board to sliding to the 29th pick.

When asked why there is such a wide range of opinion of Sanders, Kimberly A. Martin said what she has heard from an NFL executive.

“I could see how he could come off as arrogant if you don’t take the time to get to know him,” the executive said according to Martin. “He is very thoughtful, he’s not a bs-er, you may not like his answer.”

Martin went on to say, “It’s an NIL generation, they got money and he’s Deion Sanders’ son, so if you thought he was going to walk in and be like yeah, I’m happy to be here, no, he’s like you’re happy to be in my presence.”

Confidence is a key ingredient in the success of an NFL quarterback. That is one thing Sanders is not lacking. He is an extremely talented player, and with the number of teams picking at the top of the draft in need of a quarterback, it would be a surprise if Sanders fell out of the top 10.
