Travis Hunter was recently named the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner, but some people are already thinking about next year. That includes Oregon WR Tez Johnson, who gave his opinion on who will be a finalist next December.
Johnson was eager to give his opinion on quarterback Dante Moore, who transferred to Oregon from UCLA last off-season.

This may seem like an odd statement to some people, considering Moore passed for 1,610 yards, 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions, while completing only 53.5% of his attempts during his 2023 season with the Bruins. He also saw limited action in five games this season. However, the news out of Eugene has been very positive regarding Moore’s development during the last year as he has embraced the offensive system.
Moore was also one of the top Class of 2023 high school recruits in the country with offers from basically every major program in the country. So, everyone had already identified his potential, which according to Johnson is becoming a reality.

The Ducks do lose a great deal of their current offensive firepower this year, including Johnson, but return promising wide receivers Justius Lowe and Jeremiah McClellan, and have already added tight end Jamari Johnson (Louisville) through the portal.
This is far from a finished product for the Oregon offense. Expect much more movement through the portal in the coming weeks. One possible addition is Makhi Hughes (Tulane), who the top available running back in the portal and currently has the Ducks as one of his favorites.
The pieces will be in place for Moore to succeed at a high level, so then it will be up to the redshirt sophomore quarterback to live up to his potential.
