Plenty of people have opinions about the current state of college football. Dave Portnoy, owner of Barstool Sports, is definitely one of those. Earlier today he went on an interesting rant on his Instagram:

Portnoy is a Michigan alum and huge fan of the Wolverines. He is not bashful about that. He has also found joy in the SEC’s recent struggles, which included Alabama’s loss to Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl.
This has also help inspire a Portnoy/Lane Kiffin “battle” on X that Portnoy discussed in his video above. Neither of the two are likely to back down so expect this drama to continue for as long as Kiffin is coaching in the SEC.

Portnoy is in the business of entertainment, so he knows how to get a reaction from people. And he is good at it. But he also made a few good points during his video. The playing field has leveled because of NIL. Or at least it has changed, and that is a reality.

Overall, this is all for entertainment. And while the SEC isn’t dead, its dominance may be shifting.
