There have been many opinions regarding Shedeur Sanders’ plummet during the NFL Draft. One of the latest was from Hall of Famer Chris Carter during his appearance on The Art of Dialogue podcast, where he was not bashful about what led to Sanders’ current situation:

Carter is a respected Hall of Famer who hit on an abundance of topics that many people have thought about in the last few days. Just a few of his comments that didn’t hold back:
“His off-field antics made teams draft players of lesser talent”
“The NFL system taught Shedeur a great lesson. That he ain’t running sh*t.”
“Shedeur and his family overplayed their hand. Them thinking that he was in the same evaluation mode as Eli Manning, they didn’t play that right. Them trying to narrow the teams that he was going to go to, that didn’t do right. Not working out at the combine, that wasn’t the right thing. His interview process, obviously could have done a lot better in that. A lot people left that meeting though he was very very entitled.”

“Right now he is working check to check,” said Carter. “He’s not getting a big signing bonus, he’s not getting a big guarantee. Any day they want to get rid of him, they can get rid of him.”
He also touched on the supposed collusion issue that many people have brought up.
“There was not a collusion message with the NFL owners,” said Carter. “Because they wouldn’t be able to keep a secret like that. They wouldn’t be able to shut up about it. But every owner is very very selfish. Why would I do something to my detriment? Like if I need a quarterback and I think this kid is it.”
Shedeur has plenty to prove in the coming days, weeks, months and years. Current NFL players will be watching, current NFL coaches will be watching, and Carter proves that former greats will also be watching. Now it is up to him to prove everyone wrong.
