In Mike Farrell’s Fact or Fiction — Draft edition, he figures out if the Bears should take Bryce Young…

In today’s Fact or Fiction — NFL Draft edition — I look at three big recent topics around the NFL Draft and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.

1. The Chicago Bears should take Bryce Young at No. 1 overall.

Farrell’s take: FACT

I know Bears fans like Justin Fields and he’s been solid as a runner, but his QBR is near the bottom of the league and he threw 11 picks last season. I know he has a poor supporting cast, but Young is special, like Patrick Mahomes-level special. And Fields at best could be Jalen Hurts with a lot of work. Hurts is solid don’t get me wrong, but Mahomes is special. And so is Young.

Oct 15, 2022; Knoxville, Tennessee, USA; Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Bryce Young (9) looks to pass the ball against the Tennessee Volunteers during the first quarter at Neyland Stadium.

2. Will Anderson should be drafted ahead of Jalen Carter.

Farrell’s take: FACT

I love them both and they should both be off by pick five. But I’ll take the edge rusher over the tackle in this NFL any day of the week. Edge rushers are easier to find, I will admit, and Carter is rare, but edge rushers also dominate games consistently. You can’t go wrong with either but give me Anderson.

Sep 3, 2022; Tuscaloosa, Alabama, USA; Utah State Aggies offensive lineman Alfred Edwards (72) blocks against Alabama Crimson Tide linebacker Will Anderson Jr. (31) at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

3. The Texans need to take a QB at No. 2.

Farrell’s take: FACT

If it’s the right QB. And that QB is either Bryce Young or CJ Stroud. The Texans did well selecting DeShaun Watson six years ago, although he was a no brainer at No. 12. And it wasn’t their fault he had off field issues. Now they need a franchise QB badly and need to avoid high risk guys like Will Levis or Anthony Richardson at all costs. Take one of the two best QBs in the draft and be done with it.

Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud gets away from Maryland linebacker Gereme Spraggins before throwing the ball in the second quarter.
