As draft season rapidly approaches, I will give my 10 favorite players for each position. Let’s start with the QBs.

1. Drake Maye, UNC

 — I’m one of the few still on Maye as my No. 1. I’m not a huge fan of this QB class overall but he’s the safest bet with the most upside.

Nov 11, 2023; Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA; North Carolina Tar Heels quarterback Drake Maye (10) looks to pass as Duke Blue Devils linebacker Tre Freeman (12) defends in the first overtime at Kenan Memorial Stadium.

2. Jayden Daniels, LSU

 — I love his game and how he’s progressed but if he’s going to have to run to be effective can he hold up?

Oct 15, 2022; Gainesville, Florida, USA;LSU Tigers quarterback Jayden Daniels (5) throws the ball against the Florida Gators during the second half at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

3. JJ McCarthy, Michigan

 — He’s rising on boards, myself included.

Oct 8, 2022; Bloomington, Indiana, USA; Michigan Wolverines quarterback J.J. McCarthy (9) throws a pass during the second half against the Indiana Hoosiers at Memorial Stadium. Wolverines won 31 to 10.

4. Caleb Williams, USC

— His attitude worries me as I don’t think he can lead a team but his talent is unquestioned. Still, he’s too big a risk for me as No. 1.

Nov 19, 2022; Pasadena, California, USA; Southern California Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams (13) throws against the UCLA Bruins during the first half at the Rose Bowl.

5. Bo Nix, Oregon

 — I like Nix a smidge better than Penix Jr. because he’s been more durable and I’ve seen his game develop more. But he’s still a round-two grade.

Oregon quarterback Bo Nix runs for a touchdown as the Oregon Ducks host Colorado in the Pac-12 opener Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Ore.

6. Michael Penix Jr., Washington

 — I’m not a huge fan of lefty QBs and his injury history has me worried. I think he’s also a round-two kid.

Jan 1, 2024; New Orleans, LA, USA; Washington Huskies quarterback Michael Penix Jr. (9) throws a pass during the second quarter against the Texas Longhorns in the 2024 Sugar Bowl college football playoff semifinal game at Caesars Superdome.

7. Michael Pratt, Tulane

 — Pratt is a potential round two or three kid who could be much better than people anticipate.

Dec 3, 2022; New Orleans, Louisiana, USA; Tulane Green Wave quarterback Michael Pratt (7) rushes in for a touchdown against the UCF Knights during the second half at Yulman Stadium.

8. Jordan Travis, Florida State

 — Coming off his injury there is some concern but he’s a talented kid worth a shot in round three.

Sep 3, 2023; Orlando, Florida, USA; Florida State Seminoles quarterback Jordan Travis (13) runs away from Louisiana State Tigers linebacker Ovie Oghoufo (2) during the second half at Camping World Stadium.

9. Spencer Rattler, South Carolina

 — He has upside with a great arm but he’s never put it together and has a similar attitude and worries me like Williams.

Nov 26, 2022; Clemson, SC, USA; South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler (7) passes against Clemson during the first quarter at Memorial Stadium in Clemson, South Carolina on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022.

10. Gavin Hardison, UTEP

— Never heard of him? He could be the sleeper in this class.

Sep 9, 2023; Evanston, Illinois, USA; University of Texas El Paso Miners quarterback Gavin Hardison (2) passes against the Northwestern Wildcats at Ryan Field.
