Sometimes we see some reaches in the NFL Draft. Here are some picks made way too high in my book on offense.

Quarterback

Will Levis, Tennessee Titans

— Even sliding to round two, I think he’s taken way too high. A big arm is great, but there’s no film showing me he’s a future NFL starter.

Tennessee defensive lineman/linebacker Byron Young (6) sacks Kentucky quarterback Will Levis during Tennessee’s game against Kentucky at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn., on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022.

Anthony Richardson, Indianapolis Colts

— I know he’s an amazing athlete and all. And he could be an effective runner, but I don’t see it as a passer.

Mar 4, 2023; Indianapolis, IN, USA; Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson (QB11) participates in drills at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Running Back

Jahmyr Gibbs, Detroit Lions

— Why take him at No. 12 when they could have traded out and still landed him? He’s not worth this high a pick.

Dec 31, 2022; New Orleans, LA, USA; Alabama Crimson Tide running back Jahmyr Gibbs (1) runs the ball against the Kansas State Wildcats during the first half in the 2022 Sugar Bowl at Caesars Superdome.

Tank Bigsby, Jacksonville Jaguars

— I liked Bigsby long ago as an SEC freshman, but after the tread on his tires being worn down a bit and some injuries, I think he’s a reach in round three.

Sep 10, 2022; Auburn, Alabama, USA; Auburn Tigers running back Tank Bigsby (4) carries against the San Jose State Spartans during the fourth quarter at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Wide Receiver

Jordan Addison, Minnesota Vikings

— I just didn’t see a first round wide receiver last year, as his production fell off from his days at Pitt. He was used differently and all that, but I think he’s a first round bust.

Sep 24, 2022; Corvallis, Oregon, USA; USC Trojans wide receiver Jordan Addison (3) makes a catch for a touchdown against the Oregon State Beavers in the second half at Reser Stadium. The touchdown was the game winner as Trojans defeated Beavers 17-14.

Justin Shorter, Buffalo Bills

— The fifth round isn’t high, right? I have just been waiting for Shorter to use his physical assets since high school, and he’s just never going to do it.

Florida Gators wide receiver Justin Shorter (4) haul in a huge pass reception in the first half gains the Bulldogs at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, FL on Saturday, October 29, 2022.

Tight End

Luke Schoonmaker, Dallas Cowboys

— He could be serviceable in the Cowboys’ offense, but similar tight end value was there in round three and beyond, so round two is a reach.

Sep 24, 2022; Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA; Michigan Wolverines tight end Luke Schoonmaker (86) runs the ball in the first half against the Maryland Terrapins at Michigan Stadium.

Offensive Line

Paris Johnson Jr., Arizona Cardinals

— Trading back up to land him at No. 6 when they could have gotten a similar value at No. 12 seems to be a reach to me.

Mar 5, 2023; Indianapolis, IN, USA; Ohio State offensive lineman Paris Johnson, Jr. (OL24) during the NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Darnell Wright, Chicago Bears

— I don’t like this pick. The Bears could have gone with Peter Skoronski, who may not have the same upside at tackle but will not flame out. I think Wright is an RT at best and a potential bust.

Sep 17, 2022; Knoxville, Tennessee, USA; Tennessee Volunteers offensive lineman Darnell Wright (58) blocks Akron Zips defensive lineman Kyle Thomas (55) during the first half at Neyland Stadium.
