As the 2023 NFL Draft season goes on, I went on to highlight some fits between prospects and NFL teams that seem to be made in heaven.
Darnell Washington to the Cincinnati Bengals
Every time I get to the Bengals when putting together a Mock Draft, it’s hard for me to look away from gigantic Georgia tight end Darnell Washington. NFL teams already struggle on a weekly basis trying to limit Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd: now imagine adding to the mix a 6’7”, 280 pounds tight end with well above average athleticism. You can never give to your quarterback too many weapons and I’m personally big on players with rare skillsets that will lead NFL defenses to specifically game plan against him.

Zach Evans to the Miami Dolphins
Kyle Shanahan clearly has a precise type of running back in his mind and Mike McDaniel, who grew up as a coach under Shanahan, quickly built his offense in Miami around the concept of game-breaking speed. Zach Evans perfectly fits this mold. Thje former five-star has the tools to carry the load and be the lead back but at the same time he possesses game-changing speed which will blend incredibly well with Tyreek Hill’s and Jaylen Waddle’s athletic profiles. The Dolphins have the chance to make their big-time offense even more deadly and Evans could easily end up being the answer.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba to the Minnesota Vikings
While Justin Jefferson is a truly elite pass catcher, Adam Thielen is moving away from his best days as a receiver. Jaxon Smith-Njigba would provide to the Vikings a similar profile, while possessing better natural talent and athleticism.
Smith-Njigba and Jefferson would quickly form one of the best wide receiver duos in the whole NFL while giving to the Kirk Cousins the opportunity to kill opposing defenses in two different ways, leaning on either Jefferson’s athleticism and game-breaking ability or the impressive route-running and consistency in Smith-Njigba.

Will Anderson Jr. to the Houston Texans
Will Anderson Jr. is an elite talent who would fit well anywhere. With the hiring of DeMeco Ryans as the head coach of the Texans though, it could mean that the franchise could start rebuilding the roster starting from the defense.
Ryans has been able to bring out the best from a considerable number of defenders during his tenure with the 49ers and Anderson is a player who will be an impact player right away in the NFL. The Crimson Tide edge rusher has the potential to end up being an absolute superstar at the position. Learning under Ryans could be a key for Anderson’s development.

Drew Sanders to the New York Giants
As the Giants were able to retain Wink Martindale as their defensive coordinator, it will mean that the Big Blue will be once again blitz-happy in 2023. Drew Sanders is an absolute bullet who has the tools to play both as a pure edge rusher or as a linebacker in the NFL.
Sanders has big-time athleticism and incredible instincts when rushing the quarterback and could easily turn into a sack and tackle for loss machine under Martindale. In addition, the Giants need some clear upgrades at the linebacker position.
