On3 Recruiting is the industry leader in ranking high school recruits. They have put out a list that shows the teams that have gotten the most five-star recruits since 2014.

Alabama leads the way with an incredible 55 players, followed by Georgia with 49. One thing that jumps out about this list is that there is a difference of 16 players between what Georgia and Ohio State have signed. All teams on the list are from either the Southeastern Conference, Big Ten Conference or the Atlantic Coast Conference, while none from the Big 12 Conference.

The College Football Playoff began in 2014. In the 11 years of the CFP, we have crowned six different champions. Alabama has won it three times. Georgia, Ohio State, and Clemson won it two times each. LSU and Michigan once each.

It’s easy to see that the teams with the best players win the championships. Every team that has won the championship during the CFP era is in the top nine of this list. Only Texas A&M and USC have not made the playoff. It really shows that it’s not the X’s and O’s, but the Jimmy’s and Joe’s that are the keys to winning.
