Today, I take an updated look at the top 10 running backs in this month’s NFL Draft

1. Ashton Jeanty, Boise State. 5’8”, 211 lbs.

2024 Stats: 374 Attempts, 2,601 Yards, 7.0 Avg, 29 TD

                    23 Receptions, 138 Yards, 6.0 Avg, 1 TD

Ashton Jeanty was a two-year starter and was named first-team All-American in 2023. In 2024, Jeanty won the Maxwell Award (top college player), Doak Walker Award (top RB), was named a unanimous AP All-American, and was runner-up for the Heisman Trophy.

2. Omarion Hampton, North Carolina. 6’0”, 221 lbs.

2024 Stats: 281 Attempts, 1,660 Yards, 5.9 Avg, 15 TD

Omarion Hampton became the starter in his sophomore season and rushed for 1,504 yards and 15 touchdowns. He finished his career with 3,565 rushing yards and 36 touchdowns. Hampton was a two-time first-team All-ACC and a two-time first-team All-American in 2023 and 2024.

3. TreVeyon Henderson, Ohio State. 5’10”, 202 lbs.

2024 Stats: 144 Attempts, 1,016 Yards, 7.1 Avg, 10 TD

                    27 Receptions, 284 Yards, 10.5 Avg, 1 TD

TreVeyon Henderson set a freshman record for 277 yards in a game and rushed for 1,248 in 202, but was limited by injury in 2022. He finished his career with 3,761 yards and 42 touchdowns. Henderson was named first-team All-Big Ten in 2023 and third-team All-Big Ten in 2024.

4. Quinshon Judkins, Ohio State. 6’0”, 221 lbs.

2024 Stats: 194 Attempts, 1,060 Yards, 5.5 Avg, 14 TD

                    22 Receptions, 161 Yards, 7.3 Avg, 2 TD

Quinshon Judkins rushed for over 2,700 yards, was named SEC Freshman of the Year, and was twice named first-team All-SEC, in two seasons a Mississippi before transferring to Ohio State in 2024. He was named third-team All-Big Ten in 2024.

5. Kaleb Johnson, Iowa. 6’1”, 224 lbs.

2024 Stats: 240 Attempts, 1,537 Yards, 6.4 Avg, 21 TD

                    22 Receptions, 188 Yards, 8.5 Avg, 2 TD

Kaleb Johnson played in 23 games and rushed for 1,242 yards during his first three years at Iowa. In 2024, he set a single-season Iowa record with 21 touchdowns, was named first-team all-Big Ten, Big Ten Running Back of the Year, and a consensus first-team AP All-American.

6. Jarquez Hunter, Auburn. 5’9”, 204 lbs.

2024 Stats: 187 Attempts, 1,201 Yards, 6.4 Avg, 8 TD

                    21 Receptions, 155 Yards, 7.4 Avg, 1 TD

Jarquez Hunter was named the starter in 2023 and rushed for 909 yards and 7 touchdowns. He was named second-team All-SEC in that season. In 2024, he rushed for 1,201 yards and was named first-team All-SEC. Hunter finished his career with 3,378 rushing yards and 29 TDs.

7. Dylan Sampson, Tennessee. 5’8”, 200 lbs.

2024 Stats: 258 Attempts, 1,491 Yards, 5.8 Avg, 22 TD

                    19 Receptions, 141 Yards, 7.4 Avg

Dylan Sampson rushed for 1,001 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2022 and 2023. He came into 2024 as the starter and rushed for almost 1,500 yards. Sampson was named first-team All-SEC, SEC Offensive Player of the Year, and second-team AP All-American.

8. Devin Neal, Kansas. 5’11”, 213

2024 Stats: 219 Attempts, 1,266 Yards, 5.8 Avg, 16 TD

                    24 Receptions, 254 Yards, 10.6 Avg, 1 TD


Nov 23, 2024; Kansas City, Missouri, USA; Kansas running back Devin Neal (4) during the edges around the defense during the 3rd quarter between the Kansas Jayhawks and the Colorado Buffaloes at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

Devin Neal was a three-year starter for the Jayhawks. He has 4,343 career rushing yards, which is a school record, and 49 touchdowns. He also had 711 receiving yards with 9.2 yards per catch. Neal was named second-team All-Big 12 in 2023 and 2024.

9. Brashard Smith, SMU. 5’10”, 194 lbs.

2024 Stats: 235 Attempts, 1,332 Yards, 5.7 Avg, 14 TD

                    39 Receptions, 327 Yards, 8.4 Avg, 4 TD

Brashard Smith spent three years at Miami and was used primarily as a receiver and was named second-team All-ACC in 2023. In 2024, he transferred to SMU and switched to running back. Smith had over 1,300 yards rushing, 14 touchdowns, and was named first-team All-ACC.

10. Cameron Skattebo, Arizona State. 6’10”, 219 lbs.

2024 Stats: 293 Attempts, 1,711 Yards, 5.8 Avg, 21 TD

                    45 Receptions, 605 Yards, 13.4 Avg, 3 TD

Cameron Skattebo played two seasons at Sacramento State and was Big Sky Offensive Player of the Year in 2022 before transferring to ASU. In 2024, he rushed for over 1,700 yards, was named first-team All-Big 12, first-team All-American, and finished 5th in the Heisman Trophy voting.
