Winners from the final day of the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine

A look at who dominated on the final day of the event

The 2023 NFL Scouting Combine is officially in the books, as the running back and offensive lineman groups were able to get on the field and complete their testing. Let’s then take a look at the biggest winners after what went down on Sunday:

Bijan Robinson

Running Back, Texas

On Sunday, all eyes were on Texas superstar Bijan Robinson once the running backs took the field. Robinson was as good as he has been throughout his whole college career, confirming that he’s a top-10 prospect in the whole 2023 draft class. In the 40-yard dash, he collected a solid time of 4.46s, which at 215 pounds is very impressive.

In the on-field drills, he was simply magnificent, as he looked tremendously smooth and effortless as always. Bijan Robinson is the best running back prospect to come out of college since Jonathan Taylor in my opinion. He’ll be a surefire first-round pick and an absolute game-changer right off the bat in the NFL, where he projects as a do-it-all offensive weapon.

Blake Freeland

Offensive tackle, BYU

Freeland ended up being the absolute headliner of the offensive lineman group as he completely dominated by recording the best marks in the vertical jump (37”, which is also the highest ever at the position), broad jump (10’0”), 10-yard split (1.68s) and the second highest mark in the 40-yard dash (4.98s). Freeland is a phenomenal athlete who has an underrated tape and doesn’t receive the recognition he deserves as a prospect. He’s a high-ceiling player who, with some development, could truly turn into a quality starter.

Zach Charbonnet

Running back, UCLA

Zach Charbonnet has personally been a top-5 running back in the 2023 class for a few months, and at the Combine, he performed at a high level, solidifying his status. At 6’0”, 214 pounds, he collected a 4.56s time in the 40-yard dash and also scored fantastic marks in the vertical (37”) and broad jump (10’0”). Charbonnet has above-average speed and explosiveness for his size, and he projects as a 3-down back who can truly be a quality bell-cow in the NFL.

Oct 8, 2022; Pasadena, California, USA; UCLA Bruins running back Zach Charbonnet (24) runs with a ball against Utah Utes cornerback Zemaiah Vaughn (16) during the second quarter at Rose Bowl.

Broderick Jones

Offensive tackle, Georgia

Georgia players have excelled all throughout the weekend, and Jones joined the mix on Sunday by recording the fastest 40-time among all offensive linemen by putting together an impressive 4.97s performance at 311 pounds. Jones was then perfect during the on-field drills, displaying his athleticism and footwork. While he might not be as technically refined as Peter Skoronski and Paris Johnson Jr., Jones has all the tools to become a truly solid franchise tackle. The Georgia product will hear his name pretty early on Day 1.

Sep 17, 2022; Columbia, South Carolina, USA; Georgia Bulldogs running back Kendall Milton (2) rushes behind the blocking of Georgia Bulldogs offensive lineman Broderick Jones (59) in the first quarter at Williams-Brice Stadium.

Chase Brown

Running back, Illinois

While also Jahmyr Gibbs and Devon Achane both had great performances, especially in the 40-yard dash, Illinois product Chase Brown, after a fantastic 2022 season, was able to record an impressive all-around Combine. He ended up putting together the highest marks among running backs in the vertical (40”) and broad jump (10’7”) while also adding to the mix a solid time of 4.43s in the 40-yard dash. Brown’s draft stock has skyrocketed throughout the whole season, and could now be in position to be one of the first backs taken after Bijan Robinson.

Oct 1, 2022; Madison, Wisconsin, USA; Illinois Fighting Illini running back Chase Brown (2) rushes with the football during the second quarter against the Wisconsin Badgers at Camp Randall Stadium.
