Fact or Fiction

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”1988″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]In today’s Fact or Fiction I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.

Clemson QB recruiting is the best out there

Farrell’s take: FACT

Christopher Vizzina from Alabama is the latest 4 star QB to commit to Clemson and in my book he has a good chance to be a 5 star before all is said and done. The 2023 class is loaded at QB and I like Vizzina as much as anyone including Arch Manning who everyone seems to have at No. 1 overall. The 6-foot-3, 200 pounder has a great frame to work with, a strong arm and he’s a powerful runner and a tough kid. He can make all the throws and I like the way he extends the play and his touch on the run. With DJ Uiagalelei struggling you could make a case for other programs but Cade Klubnick looks great and we all saw what Trevor Lawrence and DeShaun Watson have done in college. No one recruits the QB position better than Clemson and Dabo Swinney over the last decade.

Tyler Harrell will end up at Alabama

Farrell’s take: FACT

The Louisville receiver averaged 29 yards a catch last year, had six scores on 18 catches and runs a 10.4 100-meters. And from what I hear, Nick Saban is interested. We saw what Jameson Williams did last season as a speedster in that offense and I have a feeling Harrell could be that guy this year and would compliment smooth route runner Jermaine Burton well.

Cam Wheaton will pan out at SMU

Farrell’s take: FICTION

I loved Wheaton out of high school as a big kid with track speed at running back. But everything I’ve heard about his work ethic at Alabama makes me doubt he has what it takes to be a star even on a smaller level at SMU. He has a lot to prove. It’s not about skill, it’s about effort so time will tell.
