Fact or Fiction

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image source=”featured_image” img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]In today’s Fact or Fiction I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.

The NCAA will make an example of one program in NIL

Farrell’s take: FACT

By example of course I mean a slap on the wrist but the NCAA has to make one team an example in some way to slow NIL down. They can’t go after players, that has anti-trust suit written all over it, but they can make teams reel in their boosters. And the first step is to find an example, and there are many, many out there, of a collective overstepping boundaries and slap that team with an investigation. A fear has to be put into teams for them to control the booster activity just like the old days. Nothing has changed really, you can’t pay players to come to your school.

Nebraska should have landed 2024 QB Dylan Raiola

Farrell’s take: FICTION

His uncle, Donovan, is the offensive line coach at Nebraska. No one would want to keep the talented QB from Arizona upright more than family right? But let’s be real. Nebraska can’t compete with Ohio State for an elite quarterback. They just can’t. With first-rounders coming out of Columbus in droves and that offense as high octane as any in college football, Nebraska can’t measure up even with a relative on staff. Once Raiola saw Ohio State, this was over. And that’s not a shot at the Huskers. It’s just the way things are.

Brian Kelly is under the most pressure of new head coaches

Farrell’s take: FACT

Every coach before him in recent memory has won a national title. LSU last won a national title in 2019 which feels like yesterday. If you don’t win in Baton Rouge you get skewered by the media and fans. So Kelly isn’t expected to win it all in year one, but let me tell you this — a 5-7 season or a 6-6 season won’t go over well. Lincoln Riley? Billy Napier? Others? Under pressure yes but not like Kelly who was paid a ridiculous amount of money to finish what he started at Notre Dame and win it all.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
