Fact or Fiction: Chase Brown Robbed, Ken Niumatalolo, NC State Coaching Hires
In today’s Fact or Fiction, I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.
1. Chase Brown got screwed.
Farrell’s take: FACT
The AP All American Team was announced for the 2022 season and the Illinois running back was left off the first team. Of course Michigan’s Blake Corum belonged there and it’s hard to argue against Bijan Robinson from Texas, but I would have liked to see Brown there instead of Robinson. I can’t think of a non-QB who was more important to his team this season than Brown was to the surprising 8-4 Illini. Robinson had more touchdowns but played in a much better offense and while he was keyed on, it wasn’t close to what Brown saw each game.

2. Ken Niumatalolo was unjust fired by Navy.
Farrell’s take: FACT
I’m not a fan of Chet Gladchuk, I never have been. From all the way back to his days bungling things at Boston College he was always an ego guy who was about himself rather than his program. So when he fired the Navy coach immediately after the loss to Army despite his 15 years of service and 109-83 record it wasn’t a stunner. It’s the wrong move and Navy is lacking a great coach and man for what appears to be no reason.
3. NC State are making great coaching moves.
Farrell’s take: FACT
Robert Anae did wonders at Syracuse and Virginia and made lightly recruited players into stars and he can do the same at NC State as offensive coordinator. And not a lot of people know new offensive line coach Garrett Tujague but he did an amazing job at Virginia as well and worked in synch with Anae. NC State lost two talented coaches in Tim Beck and John Garrison but these are smart replacements.
