Fact or Fiction: Drew Allar elite, Sooners need Dillon Gabriel, Notre Dame makes playoff

In today’s Fact or Fiction I take a look at Drew Allar being elite, Oklahoma’s quarterback issues and Notre Dame’s chances at the playoffs

In today’s Fact or Fiction I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.

1. Drew Allar is the real deal.

Farrell’s take: FACT

If you saw the game tying drive by Allar you’ll know how legit he is. He can extend the play, he shuffles in the pocket well, keeps his eyes downfield and he can make big and accurate throws. He has the makings of a future first rounder with his size and arm and those complaining about his play in big games are starting to change their tune.

2. Oklahoma misses Dillon Gabriel.

Farrell’s take: FACT

A dumb one right? Of course they miss him but remember this — Oklahoma fans were sure that Jackson Arnold was the future and now they have Michael Hawkins Jr. playing too soon and way over his head. Gabriel got out at the right time as the offensive line play has regressed for the moment at OU and this receiver core was not great even before the injuries. However, he’d make a massive difference at OU.

Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel scores a touchdown against Ohio State in the fourth quarter at Autzen Stadium Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024.

3. Notre Dame will make the playoff.

Farrell’s take: FACT

The Northern Illinois game is in the rear view mirror and the schedule looks easier and easier as Florida State stinks and USC is a bit of a joke now. Army and Navy have become formidable but even if ND drops one of those games they should be 10-2 and easily in the playoff despite the bad loss. There’s no way that the playoff committee leaves them out for a 3 loss team.
