Fact or Fiction: Jimbo vs. Saban, Pitt in the Big Ten, Bryan Harsin

Fact or Fiction - Pitt

Fact or Fiction - Pitt

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]In today’s Fact or Fiction, I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text]

Fact or Fiction:

Jimbo Fisher and Nick Saban Made Up

Farrell’s take: FICTION

C’mon now. There are many aspects of college football that are phony and filled with lies. That’s the case with any business. And Jimbo saying he has no “ill will” towards Nick Saban at SEC Media Days is a big fat lie. Saban accused you of buying players man. You went off on him when he did. And now suddenly a month later you guys are cool? Nope. This goes way back to the LSU days and has been under the surface for a long time. These guys don’t like each other and the Aggies win over Alabama last year and their No. 1 recruiting class brought it to the surface. Just own it guys. You hate each other. It’s good for your soul to admit it.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text]

Fact or Fiction:

Pitt Would Dominate the Big Ten

Farrell’s take: FICTION

Pat Narduzzi took a shot at Michigan State on a local podcast and backed up his bold words at ACC Media Days by declaring if Pitt joined the Big Ten they could compete to win it every season. Pitt played and lost to Michigan State 31-21 in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl but were without starting QB Kenny Pickett and backup QB Nick Patti who was injured early. “We talk about Big Ten and SEC and ACC … If that was one of the best Big Ten teams last year, then let’s go to the Big Ten and win it every year. I don’t want to hear about this Big Ten dominance and SEC dominance.” I love the confidence, I really do. But Michigan State is not Ohio State and the Buckeyes would wax the Panthers 9 out of 10 years. The ACC Coastal is a joke compared to the Big Ten East and everyone knows this. The question is, would Pitt be the second best team in that division most years with Michigan, Michigan State and Penn State in there. It’s unlikely.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text]

Fact or Fiction:

Harsin and a Motivated Auburn will be Dangerous

Farrell’s take: FICTION

Bryan Harsin minced no words at SEC Media Days. Harsin quickly addressed what he called an “uncomfortable” and “unfounded” university investigation last winter that left Harsin on a very hot seat with boosters wanting him out of the picture. He barely survived and he now says his team is more united than ever. That’s great and all but you have questions at QB, new offensive and defensive coordinators and you’re in the SEC West following the first losing season at Auburn since 2012. I see no danger here just a rough season and another move to oust the coach.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
