In today’s Fact or Fiction, I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.
1. Michigan is overrated.
Farrell’s take: FACT
Everyone thinks I hate on Michigan but it’s not the case. I thought it was great they made the playoff last season and that the Big Ten wasn’t just the Ohio State show. But….this isn’t the team I expected to see this season. Well, maybe it is. I had them at 8-4 which likely isn’t going to happen because the schedule is so weak but the Indiana and Maryland games lead me to believe at least a couple of losses are waiting to happen outside of Ohio State. Penn State could be one this upcoming weekend and I think they struggle with a bad Michigan State team, a good Illinois defense, as well a big loss to Ohio State. Why? Jim Harbaugh is just so stubborn when it comes to this offense and it’s predictable and easy to defend at times. Indiana stuffed the offense for most of the game and they aren’t a good defense and the Terps also played well against them on defense. Until he opens things up a bit they are susceptible.

2. CJ Stroud has won the Heisman.
Farrell’s take: FACT
Bryce Young is hurt, Caleb Williams plays out west, and Hendon Hooker is headed for a couple of losses. We all know a QB will win it (as usual) and Stroud is light years ahead of anyone else with 24 touchdowns and only 3 picks on a team that is absolutely loaded and likely won’t drop a game this season. Will Rogers at Mississippi State and Drake Maye at UNC are intriguing but the star power of Ohio State will win this one.

3. The loss to Alabama was a moral victory for Jimbo Fisher.
Farrell’s take: FICTION
I’ve heard this a few times. After all, A&M was a 24-point underdog and had a chance to win the game at the end. But nope. When you’re a $100 million coach there are no moral victories and a loss is a loss. A&M is 3-3 and that just stinks. It looks like a 7-5 season ahead and that’s not what they paid this man.
