In today’s Fact or Fiction, I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.
1. Oregon is the best team in the PAC 12.
Farrell’s take: FICTION
Heck, even I’ve found myself saying this after Washington struggled in a few games and Oregon blasted Utah. But there’s one problem. Washington beat Oregon straight up, so until the Huskies lose one or even two, this just can’t be said. Would Oregon beat them in a rematch? Possibly but that’s not how life works.

2. Alabama is the last team you want to face in the CFP.
Farrell’s take: FACT
Some say it’s Oregon and the obvious choices like UGA and Michigan seem to be a given so let’s focus on Alabama and why it’s them. First, Nick Saban is the coach. Second, Jalen Milroe is playing with a lot more confidence and it’s clear he can be a weapon running the ball when the gameplan dictates. And third, Nick Saban is the coach. This isn’t close to Saban’s most dangerous team and it’s arguably one of his worst from a roster talent perspective but here we are and they keep winning. If they make the playoff it would likely be as a 3 or 4 seed and I’d hate to be matched up against them.

3. UGA won’t go undefeated again.
Farrell’s take: FACT
This team is very good and Kirby Smart is elite but there are just too many issues for another unscathed run. Brock Bowers is missed a bit, the running game has been oddly average and they don’t have the same Dawgs up front to stop the run or get after the passer. I think they beat Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Georgia Tech but they could lose to Bama and will definitely fall in the playoff to an elite offense that has balance like Michigan or even Washington or Oregon.
