Fact or Fiction: Texas Throttles Oklahoma, Undefeated Louisville Ends, Kentucky Upsets Georgia
In today’s Fact or Fiction I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.
1. Texas throttles Oklahoma.
Farrell’s take: FACT
It’s supposed to be a good game, and obviously will be much better than last year’s 49-0 demolition by Texas, but I still think the Longhorns win easily this year as well. Why? Oklahoma has a potent offense but I’m not sure the defense will hold up. Texas is loaded on both sides of the ball and if they can slow down the Sooners a few drives early, OU will be in catch-up mode. That will play into the pass rush of the Longhorns as they can tee off on QB Dillon Gabriel. As I see it, Texas gets up by a couple of scores by the third quarter and it becomes a shootout where OU makes some key mistakes.
2. Louisville’s undefeated run ends.
Farrell’s take: FACT
Notre Dame owns the ACC and this will be no different. They handled a good Duke team last week on the road and they match up better against a Louisville team that has iffy QB play from Jack Plummer. The Notre Dame defense is formidable and their running game should dominate and own time of possession. A couple of Plummer mistakes and this will be 30-13 Notre Dame.
3. Kentucky pulls the upset.
Farrell’s take: FICTION
I like Kentucky and they should keep this game close but it’s at UGA and they didn’t win back-to-back national titles without winning close games vs. good teams. Kentucky should be able to run and their defense can limit the rushing attack of Georgia so that’s why I see it as a low-scoring game and a close one. But UGA will find a way to win this by a field goal and Brock Bowers will again be a massive factor.
