In today’s Fact or Fiction — transfer portal edition — I look at three big recent topics from the transfer portal and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.

1. JT Daniels is worth a look in the portal.

Farrell’s take: FICTION

I’ve seen this movie before and I’ll pass. I liked Daniels out of high school a lot as he and Amon-Ra St. Brown were one of the best QB-WR combos I’ve seen over the years. But since he graduated from high school early I haven’t seen much to be impressed with. His time at USC was average and marred with injury and the same can be said of Georgia. And now having done nothing at WVU he’s headed back in again? No thanks. Sounds harsh I know but it is what it is.

2. UNC QB Drake Maye should jump in the portal.

Farrell’s take: FACT

Why not? UNC fans won’t want to hear this but welcome to the NIL world. I said the same about Bryce Young last year. Maye wouldn’t have to leave if he didn’t want to because obviously, UNC would take him back in a second, and who knows what kind of NIL deals he’d get offered. He can’t turn pro because of the now outdated rule you have to be three years removed from high school but at least he can make money in college and the portal would make him a ton.

3. Texas OL Tommy Brockermeyer will land at Texas.

Farrell’s take: FACT

Why not? Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian and OL coach Kyle Flood were part of the Alabama program when they recruited him away from being a legacy recruit at Texas so why not take him back now? He has upside for sure and was a 5-star recruit back in the day and he could at least help the depth.
