Recruiting Fact or Fiction: Cormani McClain, Jadyn Davis, Rueben Bain

In Mike Farrell’s Fact or Fiction: Recruiting Edition, he looks at whether Mario Cristobal was flexing his recruiting strength…

In today’s Fact or Fiction — Recruiting Edition — I look at three big recent topics in football recruiting and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.

1. Cormani McClain to Miami is a perfect example of what Mario Cristobal brings.

Farrell’s take: FACT

This is what this man can do. You can rave about NIL and some rich dude’s tech company all you want, but stealing McClain away from the Florida Gators at the last second is what Cristobal can do. This roster will be loaded in a few years and recruiting wins like this — something I didn’t seem coming — are the reason why.

2. Jadyn Davis finally commits to Michigan this weekend.

Farrell’s take: FICTION

Davis, a 4 star QB for 2024 in my rankings, is visiting Michigan once again. The North Carolina star has long been linked to the Wolverines but UNC, Tennessee, Clemson and others have also been charging. The visit this weekend for the Michigan State game will be a big one for Davis and I still believe Michigan leads but I don’t expect a commitment anytime soon.

3. Louisville has a shot at DE Rueben Bain.

Farrell’s take: FACT

It’s hard to bet against Miami here as they have been linked to Bain the most and his brother Reggie is a grad assistant at Miami, but let’s not count this one as done yet. Bain will be on the Louisville campus for the third time this weekend and has an official set for December and there has been some talk of Miami not being allowed to take Bain because they hired his HS coach, Roland Smith, this summer as an off field coach (IAWP rule). There is a lot in play here and don’t count out Louisville just yet as lead recruiting coach John Herron (coach HOVA) has amazing connections to the area from his days at FSU and Florida.
