In today’s Fact or Fiction — Recruiting Edition — I look at three big recent topics from the recruiting trail and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.
1. QB Julian Sayin is locked in with Alabama.
Farrell’s take: FACT
After his most recent visit and the love he has for new OC Tommy Rees from the time he recruited him at Notre Dame, this is over. Ohio State and others continue to push for a visit, but I doubt anything happens.

2. Jadyn Davis is better than Jake Merklinger.
Farrell’s take: FACT
This is close as the new Wolverines QB commit has different intangibles than the new Vols commit, and predicting QB success at a school with the portal now is impossible. But while I like Merklinger’s size better, Davis can make more things happen when the play breaks down, and he’s more accurate. I will say that Merklinger is further from his ceiling than Davis, and he’s perfect for that two-read offense in Knoxville, but give me Davis for now.

3. The Gators are a threat for WR Jeremiah Smith.
Farrell’s take: FICTION
While he had a good visit to Gainesville and will take a ton of visits before he’s done, Smith is solidly committed to Ohio State, and I have Georgia as the biggest threat right now, and it’s not much of one. Brian Hartline has this one locked down.
