Staff Picks: Pitt vs Tennessee
Last year Pitt and Tennessee met in an epic showdown in Neyland stadium. The matchup is back, and the Volunteers are hungry for revenge. The 17th-ranked Panthers will take on the 24th-ranked Volunteers at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh at 3:30 ET. Below are the Mike Farrell Sports Staff picks for this Week 2 matchup.
Mike Farrell- Tennessee
I have the Vols winning this game by a field goal in a high-scoring game.
Cory Lemer- Tennessee
Pitt struggled against West Virginia last week. The Panthers' defense looked acceptable; however, the offense will not be able to keep up with the Vols' offense.
Matt Perkins- Pittsburgh
Tennessee is the favorite here on the road in Pittsburgh, but I still like this Panthers squad. I like Pitt's defensive line more than Tennessee's offensive line. I'll take the Panthers in a close, high-scoring game.
Timothy Bailey- Tennessee
This game was exciting last year, and it should be again. I'll take the Tennessee Vols 35-24.
Luke Brumm-Tennessee
I think Tennessee gets revenge from last season's loss to Pitt. Their offense will be too much, and Tennessee will win by 10+.
Kyle Golik-Tennessee
Tennessee will be efficient on the ground, allowing Hendon Hooker and the playbook to open up.
James DeCarlo- Pittsburgh
Currently, Tennessee is a one-score favorite. I think Kedon Slovis and the company will use their momentum from the Backyard Brawl and pick up their second big win of 2022.
Paul Wangsmo- Tennessee
Pitt was exposed last week, allowing Hooker and Tennessee to feast on their weakness.
Noah Dzik- Tennessee
Tennessee will head into Pittsburgh and take down the Panthers in an instant classic. Both offenses will compete for all game, but Hendon Hooker will lead the Vols over Pitt in a close win for Tennessee.
Shayne Pickering- Tennessee
Tennessee opens the playbook up and gets a statement win on the road against the Panthers.

Hendon Hooker is one of my dark horse Heisman picks. Pitt did win last week, but they showed that a road team could be competitive against them at home. I like Pitt and Kedon Slovis, but Tennessee's offense is too dangerous to pick against in this game. Tennessee played Pitt close last year. While Pitt is still good, they have lost a lot of pieces from that team. Tennessee returns many stars from last year and appears better overall than last year. Give me the Volunteers, 49-34.
