Mind of Mike: Deion Sanders and His Brat Act

Deion Sanders continues to show everyone how soft he currently is

Deion Sanders is soft, that’s the bottom line. Blocking accounts on Twitter is one thing but refusing to take questions from a beat reporter because he’s being mean to him is next level weak. For a guy who was amazing at a physical sport and has a Hall of Fame resume as a player, Deion is as soft as tissue paper as a coach.

If you haven’t heard, Coach Prime has notified the Denver Post that he and his staff won’t be taking questions from Post reporter Sean Keeler who covers the Buffs. Why?

In a statement provided to The Post’s editors on Friday, department officials said the decision was due to what it perceived as “a series of sustained, personal attacks” in Keeler’s coverage of the football program.

Jul 10, 2024; Las Vegas, NV, USA; Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders speaks to the media during the Big 12 Media Days at Allegiant Stadium.

When asked for specific examples of how Keeler personally attacked Sanders and the program, a sports information staffer cited his use of phrases such as “false prophet,” “Deposition Deion,” “Planet Prime,” “Bruce Lee of B.S.,” “the Deion Kool-Aid” and “circus.”

“After a series of sustained, personal attacks on the football program and specifically Coach Prime, the CU Athletic Department in conjunction with the football program, have decided not to take questions from Denver Post columnist Sean Keeler at football-related events,” the CU statement read.

CU had no comment on whether this was a Deion decision directly but we all know the truth after this tirade.

So what are we to think? After shutting down the Denver Post, CBS and more a few weeks ago and now saying Keeler can retain his credentials but isn’t allowed to ask questions, only one thing is certain — Prime wants it all his way just like when he was a player. The difference? He’s not a Hall of Fame coach.

Coach Prime, and it’s kind of funny to even call a man nearing 60 by such a name, isn’t a good coach. His experience consists of high school, FCS and a 4-8 record in the big boy league. He can’t have it his way. Hell, even Nick Saban who won every game some years and rarely lost two at worst, couldn’t have it his way. Sanders is acting like a baby or perhaps more like a spoiled brat who smiles and laughs when things go his way and pouts and complains when they don’t. He’s having a childish fit and he hasn’t even coached a game this season.

Oct 28, 2023; Pasadena, California, USA; Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders reacts against the UCLA Bruins in the second half at Rose Bowl.

So to all the Prime cult (diehard followers who think he can do no wrong), your guy is acting like a child. You’ll defend him over and over again until he leaves the program in worse shape (more on that) and abandons you to ride the coattails of his son for Deion’s second go round of NFL glory.

Deion says he keeps receipts and has claimed he shuts out the noise but the opposite is clearly true. He isn’t cut out for this and we see more evidence on a weekly basis.
