Andre Turrentine Comes Home to Tennessee

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image source=”featured_image” img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]Tennessee has received reinforcement in the secondary. Just a week after entering his name into the transfer portal, Andre Turrentine decided to transfer back home to the Vols.

Turrentine is a former 4-star prospect out of Nashville, Tennessee. He was a top 200 recruit with more than 23 offers. Andre Turrentine has 4 years of eligibility remaining and played in 4 games as a true freshman but he appeared primed for a bigger role as a sophomore at Ohio State. However, he was still on the outside looking in on the two-deep.

Turrentine played a lot of snaps in the Buckeyes’ spring game but still was likely going to be a rotational or depth player for the Buckeyes. For the Volunteers, Turrentine likely plays into the secondary rotation immediately with a chance to impress and start this summer.

Turrentine is an average-to-above-average athlete who isn’t great in man-to-man coverage but can excel as a safety covering in zone and in run support. Turrentine is a 4-star transfer for a reason and having him for four years in Knoxville only increases the chance that he becomes a difference-maker at some point in the secondary. I expect him to see at least some playing time right away and become a full-time starter after a year or so in Knoxville.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
