I focus on football, I’m an expert on football. But as a sports fan, I have opinions on many different sports. In this edition of Mike On Sports, I’ll tell you what an absolute clueless jerk the former Texas A&M head baseball coach appears to be.
I don’t know much about college baseball. I follow along here and there during the College World Series and all and love that the Tennessee Vols won a natty in something for the first time in a long time. I don’t know much, but I do know Jim Schlossnagle appears to be an absolute jerk.
The Texas A&M head coach did a great job this season and that’s obvious. His team fell one game short of winning it all. And with the Texas job open, rumors ran rampant that he was headed for a nasty villain move and switch. I don’t mind that. It’s his life. And we expect coaches to lie when asked if they are taking another job. But Schlossnagle took it to another level.

Not only did he lie and say he took the Texas A&M job to never take another job again and talked of leaving his family, but he called the reporter who asked the question “selfish”. Are you kidding me?
I don’t mind me a heel move when it comes to coaches. Long ago it was never acceptable to take another head coaching job in the same conference. I remember the local shock up here in New England when Tom O’Brien took the NC State job after so many years at Boston College. ACC to ACC move? How dare he? But we are in different times and a move from hated rival to hated rival in the SEC is a heel move. But that’s okay. But to be such a complete jerk about the question when it’s CLEAR you’ve already taken the job and it’s sourced within 24 hours after your presser? That’s next level loser stuff.

Throw in the fact he didn’t even tell his players and they found out on social media and you have perhaps the biggest jerk in college baseball.
Texas fans should be ashamed at hiring this guy. He should immediately apologize publicly and in person to TexAgs reporter Richard Zane for being such a complete ass hat and his name should be besmirched in Texas lore forever. His apology to me was half baked…

Longhorns fans will love him, Aggies fans will hate him and he won’t publicly address being such an absolute jerk. Not once. So congrats coach. You had a great season, you got a big pay raise and you’ve proven to the world you’re an absolute tool.
