College football has officially arrived. Anticipated matchups are happening across the country, rivalries are being reignited, and the action has only begun. Yale vs. Pennsylvania football may not get the recognition that Michigan vs. Ohio State does, but fans of the rivalry know what is at stake each time.

FCS football delivers action that is different from its more nationally recognized counterpart. There is good news for fans of the Quakers. We’re here to provide the latest college football news and updates on the Pennsylvania Quakers  Let’s take a look at the Yale vs. Pennsylvania football game coming up this season.

The 2023 Matchup. The Pennsylvania Quakers will host their rivals from Yale at Franklin Field. The 2023 version of the game was held at the Yale Bowl located in New Haven, CT. It was the 80th matchup between the two Ivy League programs.

The game itself was a great back-and-forth affair. Both teams tallied a touchdown in the first quarter, then traded touchdowns again in the second. Field goals from Penn kicker Graham Gotlieb wound up being the difference and a late touchdown pass from Aidan Sayin to Bryce Myers would give Penn the insurmountable 27-17 lead.

Where, When, and How to Watch. The game featuring Penn vs. Yale will take place on Friday night, Oct. 25. It will be held at Franklin Field, the home of the Pennsylvania Quakers. Official kickoff time hasn’t been set yet, but the broadcast will be at 7 PM EST.

There is the broadcast for those who can’t watch the game live and in person. ESPNU will have the game airing nationally beginning at 7 PM EST. It will be the sixth game of the 2024 Pennsylvania Quakers football season and could be a pivotal point for the team. They will finish the slate with trips to Brown, Cornell, and Princeton, plus they will host Harvard in the second-last game of the slate.

Historical Rivalry. Of all the Ivy League rivalries, Penn vs. Yale is up there. This will be the 81st meeting between the two clubs. Yale leads the all-time series 40-39-1. Interestingly, Penn has traditionally been very good at home against the Bulldogs. They are 23-14-1 against Yale on home turf.

Even more interesting is how even the rivalry has been. Though the Bulldogs were favored by six points in last year’s meeting, the Quakers came away with the 27-17 win. That puts the two teams at 5-5 over the last 10 meetings. It is the second win in a row for the Quakers in the rivalry.

History between the two teams dates all the way back to the 1925 season. In that first meeting, Penn defeated Yale 16-13, kicking off the historic rivalry. Sayin is back to lead what should be a quality Penn offense and the team returns its leading passer, rusher, and receiver. On top of that, the top three tacklers from the defense return to provide a deep, veteran group.
