Malik Elzy – Simeon, IL
Committed to Cincinnati
Two-way player for Simeon that should play WR at the next level. Good frame, solid wingspan, and adequate athleticism otherwise. Uses good mental processing to win, excellent at settling in space against the zone, has good timing/rhythm in his routes, and shows very good ability to track and high point the ball. Strong runner that runs through defenders in the open field; knows how to utilize his body. Athleticism really holds him back from being a true #1, way too much of his production is from high pointing while covered or medium yardage pickups off a quick bubble or hook. Not sure how this kid fits into a Power 5 offense given his skillset- not quite tall enough to be the big-bodied possession X, not athletic enough to get separation as a deep threat or on the inside. Has a ceiling as the 2nd option given what I’m seeing, but a college workout regimen may give increase his athleticism enough to get more consistent separation.

Ta’Mere Robinson – Brashear, PA
Committed to Penn State
Defensive athlete that plays SS, LB, and Edge/DE; projects best as a LB. Very good frame, strength, and speed needed to any LB position. Shows strong hands at the line of scrimmage, the footwork to get around slower tackles, speed to quickly close on the ballcarrier, and form/strength to wrap up and bring them down. Has the athleticism to cover RBs and TEs and follows the QB’s body language to close on targets. Level of competition is a concern, isn’t playing the types of athletes he will in the Big 10 and won’t be able to rely on his physical tools as much. Really like this kid, has the baseline tools needed to succeed in the Big 10 and will benefit greatly from PSU’s historically good coaching of LBs. Should be a good to very good player for them in whatever position he ends up playing.
Anthony Brown – Springfield, OH
Committed to Kentucky
Former Minnesota commit who’s recruitment really picked up in the recent months after impressive camp results. Slightly below average frame with very good speed, vertical, and elite explosiveness/short area quickness.Utilizes his footwork to create separation off the line and at the top of his routes with the speed to maintain the separation. Settles into zones well, speed to quickly adjust if needed, and shows the ability to track over his shoulder. Weaker player that will struggle to get off a press if the corner’s hands are too quick for him to get around, lacks the height to win contested balls, too reliant on the juke in the open field and does not run through tacklers. Should be a good slot receiver, can contribute as a gadget player in end arounds and screens, does not need to add much more polish to his game and can contribute quickly. Really reminds me of Wes Welker.
Troy Bowles – Jesuit, FL
Committed to Georgia
Son of Todd Bowles that started since freshman year at a good program. Solid frame with good athleticism across the board. Pedigree behind him is clear on film- great team leader, reads offenses pre-snap and adjusts well, takes great angles, and understands the importance of timing on blitzes. Loves to come downfield and hit guys and uses his football IQ to play great zone coverage. Not the best athlete in the world but has enough speed and explosiveness needed to play the position, chance this kid has hit his limit already since he’s been coached so well from a young age. Extremely high floor that I think he will continue to build on, would bet this kid is a team captain, in charge of the defense, and a Butkus finalist by the end of his career.

Lewis Carter – Tampa Catholic, FL
Committed to Oklahoma
Two-way starter in a good program that’s likely to play ILB at the next level. Adequate height but well filled-in, shows good functional strength and very good explosiveness. Uses his strength and explosiveness to blow up tackles at the LOS and attack the ballcarrier. Shows good mental processing to break on receivers out of the zone, takes good angles on ballcarriers, and reads the offense pre-snap and adjusts himself. Uses his strength to slow down receivers through the top of their routes just enough to throw off the rhythm of pass concepts. Lacks the top-end speed to maintain coverage on most receivers and faster TEs at the next level. Like him as an inside backer, think it’ll take a year or two for him to really develop but he should be a solid contributor for Oklahoma.
