Scouting Report

Thomas provides good athleticism and COD at the LOS. His very good initial hand punch and good foot quickness gives him the ability to neutralize edge rushers. With good knee bend and leverage, he is able to generate movement at the LOS as a run blocker. Possess a good football I.Q. and communication when it comes to passing off defenders on blitzes and stunts. Displays a solid anchor technique vs. the bull rush. He utilizes his very good strength and competitive toughness to finish blocks at the LOS and at the 2nd level. Poor size will most likely require Thomas to move inside to guard. He will need to work on his adequate footwork and his consistency of technique as he will not be able to rely on foot quickness alone at the next level. With his mauler mentality, he tends to lunge/overextend on pass sets which could lead to him being vulnerable to counters. Thomas is a starting OG at a P5 institution with potential to be a full-time starter by his sophomore season. A heavy run offense could find some use for him in his first year on campus.
