Scouting Report
Solid height and size with fluid hips, very good strength and balance, and solid lateral quickness. He is quick off the ball and with good hand quickness to engage defenders. Very good Gap blocking, showing very good strength and balance through the block, with good leg drive to push defensive linemen out of the hole. Shows solid angles in pull blocks with good ability to adjust to defenders at the point of attack. Very good mental processing in double teams, engaging block with good explosion and strength to drive the defensive lineman to the Guard with very good timing to leave the block to engage the 2nd level. Solid Zone blocking with solid Zone angles and lateral quickness to engage block with very good upper body strength to turn his defender. Very good finish on blocks with the ability to throw defenders to the. ground while keeping his feet and looking for the next guy to block. Good Pass Pro with solid set points and good ability to pass off blockers. Very good anchor, dropping his hips with very good strength to prevent walk back. Adequate hand placement in all blocking situations getting his hands outside with adequate ability to refit them in the block. Powell has the height and size to play Tackle at the next level and has the flexibility to also play Guard. Could become an early contributor for a Power 5 team by year two
