Scouting Report
Petty has solid height and adequate weight. Displays good AA with good footwork, play strength, explosiveness, solid lateral agility, and contact balance. Shows very good gap-blocking ability in the run game which is seen in his good mental processing to locate his assignment, execute his block, and climb to the second level when needed. Also shows good hands/initial punch with good play strength, placement, and good competitive toughness and footwork to drive defenders back and finish his block. Displays solid zone-blocking ability on reach blocks or as a lead blocker with a combination of good footwork, and mental processing. Adequate leverage/form; plays with high leverage way too often, and this is seen especially on the move. Adequate pass blocking; doesn’t show consistency in his set points, and again doesn’t maintain good positioning/leverage. Projects as a developmental OT who could take a couple of years to round out his game. Shines in run blocking where he can showcase his AA and could be moved inside to spotlight those strengths.
