Scouting Report

Solid height and size with solid athletic ability. He plays with solid speed, good short-area quickness, good acceleration and change of direction (COD), with solid balance and good strength. Hayes is a good outside runner, able to get to the edge before defensive EDGE can get off their blocks and displays a good inside cut move featuring his good COD and acceleration. Solid inside runner who has good acceleration through the hole but has adequate vision and looks to run outside rather than consistently following his blocks. His good short-area quickness and COD allow him to force missed tackles at the second and third level, and he runs with good physical toughness fighting for extra yards the entire play. Shows soft hands and the ability to high-point ball and can provide screen routes, but do not expect him to be a well-rounded receiving back. Overall, a solid prospect committed to Penn State who will not be a feature in their backfired in his first couple of seasons but can turn into a complementary back in a rotation.
