With action in the transfer portal slowing down, it is time to take a closer look at how each P4 school did during this cycle. Up now are the Baylor Bears

The skinny: Compared to most programs, Baylor hasn’t had a large quantity of players enter the portal during the last two cycles (29), so with that said they also haven’t had the need to be overly aggressive with additions. However, his may be both good and bad, considering the Bears are coming off a 3-9 season and may have needed more turnover of their roster. While that didn’t happen, head coach Dave Aranda did decide to scrap the Bears run-heavy offense in favor of a more pass-happy attack led by new offensive coordinator Jake Spavital. Will this move help the Bears make some noise in the restructured Big 12 this season?

Dec 2, 2023; Detroit, MI, USA; Toledo Rockets quarterback Dequan Finn (7) throws a pass against the Miami (OH) Redhawks in the first quarter at Ford Field.

Key additions: QB DeQuan Finn (Toledo), TE Michael Trigg (Ole Miss), WR Ashtyn Hawkins (Texas State), OL Kurt Danneker (Ohio), DB Kendrick Simpkins (Western Kentucky)

Final thoughts: A large part of Baylor’s potential success this season will rest on the shoulders of new quarterback DeQuan Finn, who accounted for almost 9,000 yards and 90 touchdowns during his time with Toledo. If he is able to continue that level of success at the P4 level, the Bears offense will be extremely fun to watch. Likely to become a favorite target for Finn is another transfer, Ashtyn Hawkins, who is familiar with this style of offense and Coach Spavital from his time at Texas State. Anything less than a bowl this season would be a major disappointment in Waco.
