With action in the transfer portal slowing down, it is time to take a closer look at how each P4 school did during this cycle. Up now are the Clemson Tigers

The skinny: Coming off a season that saw the Tigers finish at 9-4 and 4-4 in the ACC, which was the first time since 2010 that Clemson didn’t reach double-digit wins, there was some thought that Coach Dabo Swinney might adjust his philosophy of not taking advantage of the transfer portal. However, that did not become a reality as the Tigers did not add any scholarship transfers while losing valuable starters like DB Andrew Mukuba and WR Beaux Collins.

Final thoughts: Coach Swinney’s portal philosophy has become a polarizing topic, which once again came to the forefront recently when he said, “Most of the guys in the portal aren’t good enough to play for us. That’s just the reality of it.” Considering Georgia, Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State and every other top program in the country has taken advantage of the transfer portal, this was a head-scratcher for many. This season can go two ways for Clemson and Coach Swinney. If they make a run at the ACC Championship, he will be able to tell everyone that his portal philosophy was correct, however, if the Tigers have another season when they are irrelevant, the noise will continue to get louder, and suddenly next off-season will become very interesting.
